Selection Process

Our Selection Process

The "In Their Own Words" book project aims to showcase the diverse and inspiring stories of Black women and their experiences of triumph and resilience. We are committed to selecting a range of essays that reflect the unique experiences and perspectives of Black women. Our selection process is designed to ensure that each essay is given thoughtful consideration and that we create a book that is representative of the diverse voices within the Black community.

Here's what you need to know about the selection process:

Timeline: Submissions will be accepted during a specific period of time. Once the submission period closes, the selection committee will begin reviewing submissions. Contributors can expect to hear back about their selection status within a specific timeframe.

Selection Criteria: The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on several factors, including the strength of the narrative, the relevance of the story to the project's theme, and the overall quality of the writing. We're looking for stories that are honest, authentic, and deeply personal.

Review Process: The selection committee will initially review all submissions to identify the strongest candidates. For some submissions, we may conduct interviews or follow-up discussions to get a better understanding of the story and its impact. Final decisions on which submissions to include in the book will be made by the selection committee.

Notification: We understand the importance of timely and transparent communication and will keep all contributors informed of their selection status throughout the selection process. If your submission is selected for inclusion in the book, we will notify you via email within two weeks of the final decision. You will receive credit for your work and will be invited to attend the book launch event.

We believe that every Black woman's story is unique and valuable, and we can't wait to read yours. Join us in this powerful and transformative project, and let your voice be heard.

We look forward to reading your stories and sharing them with the world. Thank you for being a part of this project and for contributing to the rich tapestry of Black women's voices.
