Our Project: In Their Own Words
At BW Empowered, our "In Their Own Words" book project is a celebration of the resilience, strength, and diversity of Black women's voices. We are committed to amplifying the stories and experiences of Black women and providing a platform for their voices to be heard. Our project is driven by a belief in the power of storytelling to inspire change, and we are passionate about creating a community of contributors who share our vision.​
Project Overview
"In Their Own Words" is a project born from a collective need to center the stories of Black women, whose narratives have often been sidelined and overlooked. It is a celebration of the strength, resilience, and triumphs of Black women from all walks of life.​ At its core, In Their Own Words is an expression of the Black Women Empowered movement - a movement that advocates for the rights and well-being of Black women. Our goal is to amplify the voices of Black women and provide them with a platform to share their stories, connect with one another, and inspire change.​
Through this project, we seek to not only celebrate the power and resilience of Black women but also to foster a sense of community and solidarity among Black women from diverse backgrounds. By sharing their personal stories of triumph and resilience, we hope to inspire and empower the next generation of Black women to rise up and take their rightful place in the world.​
We believe that the stories in this book will resonate with readers of all backgrounds and serve as a testament to the strength and beauty of Black women. By bringing these stories to light the voices and experiences of Black women are not only heard but celebrated and valued.

Our Mission
Our mission at Black Women Empowered is to uplift and empower Black women through education, advocacy, and community building. The 'In Their Own Words' book project is an important part of our mission, as it provides a platform for Black women to share their powerful stories of triumph and resilience with the world. By amplifying their voices, we hope to inspire and empower other Black women to speak up and take action, creating a world where we are all seen, heard, and valued. Our goal is to create a movement of Black women who are empowered to make positive changes in their own lives and in the world around them.

Our Vision
Our vision for the "In Their Own Words" book project is to create a space where Black women can share their stories and have their voices heard. We believe that by amplifying the voices of Black women, we can inspire and empower future generations, and help to create a world where all Black women are valued and supported. Through this project, we aim to provide a platform for Black women to tell their stories, and to contribute to the ongoing conversation around representation, diversity, and inclusion.
